Supporting teenagers and young adults to build communication, confidence, connection and independence.
Supporting teenagers and young adults to build communication, confidence, connection and independence.
Ceangal is the Irish word for connection.
At Ceangal Speech and Language Therapy, communication is viewed as the foundation for meaningful participation in everyday life. Communication influences how we build relationships, advocate for ourselves, navigate education and employment, develop independence, and participate in our communities.
Our goal is to provide practical, meaningful support that helps teenagers and young adults build communication, confidence, connection, and independence in ways that feel authentic to them.
At Ceangal, support is neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based, and tailored to the individual.
Communication is viewed as the foundation for meaningful participation in everyday life. Whether the goal is building friendships, preparing for employment, increasing independence, or developing self-advocacy skills, support focuses on practical, real-world outcomes that matter to each individual.
Therapy is collaborative, goal-focused, and centred around helping young people build confidence, connection, and independence in ways that feel authentic to them.
Hi, I'm Doireann, a Speech and Language Therapist and the founder of Ceangal.
I graduated from Trinity College Dublin and have worked across Ireland and Australia supporting children, teenagers, and young adults in a range of settings including hospitals, schools, community services, telehealth services, and specialist young adult programmes.
Throughout my career, I have seen how communication impacts far more than conversation. It influences confidence, relationships, education, employment, self-advocacy, independence, and participation in everyday life.
My experience working with teenagers and young adults inspired me to create Ceangal. I wanted to provide a service that focuses not only on communication, but on the broader goals that communication supports - meaningful relationships, confidence, self-understanding, independence, and participation in the things that matter most.
I am a CORU registered Speech and Language Therapist and a member of the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists (IASLT) as well as Speech Pathology Australia (SPA).
